Pasadena, Texas, located just south of Houston, has a rich history. Along with neighboring Deer Park, it is the "Birthplace of Free Texas." The last battle of the Texas Revolution occurred nearby on April 21, 1836, when Texans captured Mexican General Antonio L�pez de Santa Anna at Vince's Bayou, leading to the Mexican’s surrender.

Founded in 1908, Texas Chiropractic is the fourth-oldest chiropractic college in the nation.

During the annual Strawberry Festival, Pasadena, TX celebrates its history as “Strawberry Capital of the South.” The Great Storm of 1900 hit Pasadena hard, virtually wiping out orchards and crops. Clara Barton, as President of the American National Red Cross, wanted to help. She knew the farmers needed a crop that would grow quickly so she had 1.5 million strawberry plants sent to Pasadena. It became a great success. In the height of the growing season, Pasadena, TX ships freight cars full of strawberries to many parts of the U.S.

John Travolta and Debra Winger came to Pasadena in 1980 to film the hit movie Urban Cowboy, based upon Pasadena’s honky-tonk bar, Gilley's, co-owned by country music star Mickey Gilley. Nine years later, Gilley's became the victim of an arson fire. Now only the old sound recording studio remains. Mr. Gilley still resides in Pasadena, Texas.
