Cloverleaf, Texas, is a census-designated place (CDP) and an urban residential neighborhood in east central Harris County, about 12 miles from downtown Houston. This east Harris County community is part of the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan Statistical area.  Cloverleaf has a total area of 3.6 square miles. In 1990, Cloverleaf’s population was 18,230 residents. The U.S. Census 2009 estimates have placed the population count at 20,680.

The Cloverleaf, TX, community is between the City of Jacinto City and the Channelview CDP, along the north side & westbound edge of Interstate 10. Cloverleaf is a residential, neighborhood community considered to be part of an industrial zone by zoning definition. Across the southern border of the Cloverleaf community near Interstate 10 is the Brown Shipbuilding Industrial Park, an industrial site larger than Cloverleaf CDP itself. A major shipbuilding facility during WWII, and now an industrial park with numerous businesses serving the maritime industry, Brown no longer builds boats. Cloverleaf originated as a stop on the Beaumont, Sour Lake and Western Railway. A 1936 county highway map indicates an unnamed development which became Cloverleaf.

Cloverleaf, Texas, schools are part of the Galena Park Independent School District (GPISD).  Elementary schools in the Cloverleaf CDP include Cloverleaf Elementary School, Green Valley Elementary School, Havard Elementary School, Sam Houston Elementary School and the North Shore Elementary School. The Cobb 6th Grade School is located slightly outside of the Cloverleaf CDP. Half of the school children are directed to the North Shore Middle School for grades 7 and 8 which is in the GPISD. Others are served by the Cunningham Middle School, outside of the CDP. All Cloverleaf high school students attend the North Shore Senior High School, which has two campuses in the Cloverleaf CDP, both providing classrooms for grades 9 through 12. The American Academy, a private high school, is located on Maxey Road in Cloverleaf.

Cloverleaf, TX, CDP residents receive excellent medical care from less than one mile away at the East Houston Regional Medical Center, one of the few emergency rooms in east Harris County. East Houston Regional Medical Center has well-known pediatric advanced life-support facilities for major emergencies, available 24 hours a day.

Cloverleaf provides many players to the North Shore Little League and hosts two of their ball fields at the Cloverleaf Field and the Nadolney Field, both in the center of Cloverleaf, near Woodforest Blvd.

Cloverleaf, Texas, has no municipal government and no local municipal court nor justice of the peace. Cloverleaf utilizes Harris County Justice of the Peace Court to provide services administered by a municipal court, such as Class C misdemeanor criminal cases, where the punishment upon conviction is usually a small fine. The court also has jurisdiction over minor civil matters such as landlord-tenant disputes.

Cloverleaf, TX, residents utilize the services of the Harris County Criminal Courts at Law for criminal cases, including DUI & DWI offenses. The Harris County Civil Courts at Law hear civil trial court matters and other litigation such as vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, defective product issues, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death claims, and other personal injury claims. Appeals of court decisions are handled by the two nearby State Appeals Courts in Houston or the Texas Supreme Court in Austin.
