Aldine, Texas, is in central Harris County, an unincorporated area within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Houston. Aldine is an 8.1-square-mile unincorporated Census Designated Place, or CDP, and is not considered to be a city or a town. All municipal services are provided by the City of Houston. Aldine is one of many Texas towns to benefit from proximity to a large city. Aldine’s “V” shaped parcel is between the Hardy Toll Road to the west, The Union Pacific Railroad right of way to the east/southeast, and Farm to Market Road 525 as the northern boundary.
Aldine, TX, was originally a railroad stop built alongside the rails of the Great Northern Railroad, now the Union Pacific Railroad, and was named for a local farm family. A post office operated in Aldine from 1896 to 1935. The mail service now comes out of Houston. In 1914, Aldine’s Main Street included two general stores, a fig preserver, several poultry breeders and several dairymen. The Magnolia Oil Company established a large crude-oil pumping station in Aldine in 1923.
