Attorney Brad T. Wyly was recently asked to speak at a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminar
on the topic of plaintiff preparation. The presentation, "Preparing
Your Most Important Exhibit: The Plaintiff" was given on March 12,
2015 at Advanced Diagnostics' Third Annual Personal Injury Attorney
Among the topics covered by Attorney Wyly were what to look for in an initial
meeting with a client, what advice to impart before a trial, and deposition
and trial strategies. A few of the many points Attorney Wyly made included:
- Prioritizing client credentials
- Setting client expectations early
- Imparting caution to client about using social media
- Preparing early for deposition testimony
- Limiting the client's time on the stand during trial
- Protecting your client's credibility at all costs
Attorney Wyly also stressed the importance of encouraging personal injury
clients to tell the truth, both in the deposition and the following trial.
Other evidence, such as witness testimony and medical information are
also lauded as key in making your client's injuries and losses evident
to a judge and jury.
