Our Houston car accident attorneys are getting ready to burn some shoe
rubber at the national "Walk Like MADD" fundraising event organized
by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). In addition to walking in the
event, Attorneys Brad Wyly and Kelly Cook are also trying to reach, and
even surpass, a personal fundraising goal of $2,000.
Our team has seen firsthand the horrific effects that
drunk driving can have on innocent people. If you would like to help with the fight
against drunk driving, you can donate to the cause or join the team by visiting
Wyly & Cook, LLP's Walk Like MADD page.
The money you donate will be used to fund anti-drunk driving efforts in
the local community. Those include efforts that are part of MADD's
Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving. The campaign focuses on the following three areas:
Supporting the efforts of law enforcement in catching drunk drivers and being highly visible so that they can discourage
the practice of drunk driving
Supporting a requirement for ignition interlock devices (or in-car breathalyzers) for all drunk drivers
Supporting the advancement of technology that will provide automatic detection of whether a driver has exceeded
the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit
Each year, about 10,000 lives are lost in the U.S. due to accidents caused
by drunk driving, and hundreds of thousands of victims are seriously injured.
Since 1980, MADD has been working to put measures in place that help to
keep drunk drivers off the road. Please join Attorney Wyly in his support
for this worthy organization! The
Houston Walk Like MADD event will take place at Oyster Creek Park on May 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
